Phineal, an innovation in renewable energies, was commissioned by Transelec, the main electricity transmission company in Chile, to develop a blockchain-based clean energy traceability platform for companies seeking to monitor their energy usage.
The challenge was to create a finished and functional product in just six months, with no direct references in Chile, and with the business not yet well defined. The goal was to help shape the business through the design process and arrive at a product that was totally secure, with real-time data and information transparency.
The Design Process
I take charge of the design process, working closely with the product owner, business stakeholders, and development team to map out the stages of product development. My approach involves conducting extensive research and analysis of international competitors, gathering feedback through surveys and stakeholder interviews, and creating user personas that accurately reflect the needs and preferences of our target audience.
Through strategic meetings with clients, I help define the value proposition and establish a Lean Canvas that outlines our product's key features and benefits. From there, I create wireframes and test them with potential users to determine the best style and layout for the site, leveraging a card sorting process to develop an intuitive site map.
Using Figma, I then create high-definition prototypes and collaborate with developers to address any implementation issues, ensuring a seamless user experience from start to finish. Throughout the process, I work closely with the team to write all the necessary text and adapt design elements as needed.
The Impact of the Solution
The result was a fully functional blockchain-based clean energy traceability platform. The main website, Pulse Energia, was launched on time, and sub-projects such as certificates, user dashboard, product seal, and app for products continued to be perfected during 2021.
The platform provides companies with secure, real-time, and transparent data to monitor their energy usage, giving them the ability to make informed decisions about their energy consumption. The impact of the solution is to promote clean energy use and contribute to a more sustainable future.
